D1 Arrive in Shanghai where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure. Shanghai

D4 A full day tour to the amazing archeological wonder of the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang in Vaults 1 & 3, the Chariot Exhibition and the fascinating Neolithic relics housed in the Banpo Museum.(BL) Xi'an
D5 Depart by air for Lanzhou where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Afternoon visits to the Provincial Museum, White Pagoda Hill and Five Spring Park.(BL) Lanzhou
D6 Transfer to the airport for your flight to Jiayuguan, the western starting point of the Great Wall. On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. Afternoon visit to the Great Wall Museum and the Jiayu Fort which is known as the ‘Impregnable Pass Under Heaven’. (BL) Jiayuguan
D7 Depart by coach for 6 hours 390 km journey to Dunhuang, a great oasis in the west of Gansu province, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel Dunhuang
D8 Once an important caravan stop on the Silk Road, today the city is renowned as the site so the greatest trove of Buddhist art the world has known – the Mogao Grottoes which dates back to 336 AD.(BL) Dunhuang
D9 Depart by coach for a short journey to the station of Liuyuan to board the overnight train to Turpan.(BLD) Turpan
D10 Arrive Turpan On arrival transfer to your hotel. A full day visiting the ruins of the ancient cities of Jiaohe and Gaochang, the Thousand Buddha Caves and Flaming Mountains.(BL) Turpan
D11 During your coach journey to Urumqi you will pass through spectacular desert where small oasis towns are irrigated by a series of underground viaducts carrying water from the distant Tianshan Mountains. On arrival, check into your hotel. Visit the Museum of National Minorities and History. Urumqi
D12 A full day is spent visiting the beautiful ‘Heaven Lake’ which is located about halfway up the 5,000 metre high Bogda Mountain. Evening transfer to the airport for your flight to Kashgar where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Kashgar
D13 Browse through the famous Kashgar bazaar. Visit the Id Kah Mosque and the Abakh Hoja Tome. Evening transfer to the airport for your flight to Urumqi where you will be met and transferred to your hotel.(BL) Urumqi
D14 Transfer to the airport for your flight to Beijing where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Beijing
D15 The tour today will be within city limits. After breakfast start with superb symmetrical architecture of the Forbidden City, also known as the Imperial Palace, the former residence of the Ming and Qing dynasty Emperors. The Forbidden City opens out onto Tiananmen Square, the largest in the world and capacity of holding over 1 million people, then to the Temple of Heaven, a materpiece of Chinese architecture from the 15th century with not a single nail used in its construction.(BL) Beijing
D16 Travel out to the Summer Palace where a relaxing stroll along the beautiful verandas surrounding Lake Kunming is a real treat. This will be followed by a visit to the Beijing Zoo where you can watch the pandas and then tour through the Lama Temple.(BL) Beijing
D17 Today for you will have a chance to climb the Great Wall of China. After breakfast put your good climbing shoes and board your coach for the 90-kilometer trip to Badaling. As you conquer your own short climb you may marvel in awe at the sheer magnitude of the scale of construction as the Wall snakes its way over the mountains and valleys into the distance. If you don’t feel quite up to the climb there is a chairlift available at extra cost. After another sumptuous Chinese lunch you will continue to the legendary Ming Tombs. Enjoy a Beijing Duck Banquet this evening.(BLD) Beijing
D18 Day at leisure – Beijing. Enjoy a free day in Beijing to relax, shop or explore the city on your own.(B) Beijing
