Oiao Family compound
        The qiao family compound ,54kilometres from Taiyuan, was the indoor and outdoor filming location of the movie Hang High the Red lanterns.The compound,known as zaizhongtang, was the home of a qiao family in qixian county built during the Qinalong reign of the qing dynasty (1644-1911). Zai zhongtang was the name of the family hall of qiao zhiyong ,the third generation of a businessman well known both in china and aborad.The qiao family compound occupies 8724.8 square metres of land and is composed with 313rooms in them .Viewed from above the buildings form the character of “double happiness”.The compound is enclosed by high walls of more than 10metres in height ,Inside the compound, courtyards are linked with courtyard encloses several smaller courtyards .There are gardens and exquisitely built structures.The compound now houses the qixian folkore museum.
