hanxi is
one of the cradle of Chinese culture. The first
dynasty of China—Xia, which is situated in the south
of Shanxi and the west of Henan. |

In Zhou
dynasty, Shanxi was called Jin. In the time of Chun
Qiu, Jin Weigong who was the king of Jin is one of
the five mistresses. In the time of Zhan Guo, Jin
was divided into three parts by Han, Zhao, Wei three
courtries. From then on, Shanxi was called “San
Jin”. |

In Qin
dynasty, the king built Taiyuan, Shangdang, Hedong,
Yanbei and Dai Counties. Pingcheng (Today we call it
Datong)was the capital of the North Wei. |

Bei dynasty, Jinyang(Today we call it Taiyuan)was
the second capital of East Wei and North Wei. |

In Sui
dynasty, Taiyuan, Chang’an, Luoyang, had become the
three big cities on Huanghe River. In the end of Sui
dynasty, Li Yuan and his son Li Shimin began the
battle at Shanxi and won the battle. Then they built
Tang dynasty, whose capital was Chang’an, and
Taiyuan was called Beijing, to remember the place of
Taiyuan. |

dynasty, Datong was the second capital of Liao、Jin
dynasty for two hundred years. |

In Yuan
dynasty, Shanxi、Shangdang and Hebei province were
the center of Yuan dynasty, Datong、Pingyao(Today we
call it Linfen) 、Taiyuan three cities are the famous
cities of Huanghe River. In Ming dynasty, Taiyuan

dynasty, the business of Shanxi was very prosperous.
